THe NEST

The proposal sought to redefine the treehouse as an accessible experience, connected to the ground and centered around a black pine tree in the Kew Botanical Gardens in London.

Inspired by biomimetic architecture, The Nest offers a journey of discovery that gradually reveals the central tree, inviting visitors to interact with it from multiple perspectives.

Our proposal included the use of Christmas trees that, after the holidays, are piled up in parks across the United Kingdom, left unused and discarded. Each year, around 6 to 8 million real Christmas trees are sold in the UK, with the majority thrown away after just a few weeks, generating approximately 12,000 tonnes of waste. With this project, we aimed to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability and the responsible cycle of resources, inviting reflection on new ways to connect with the environment and minimize waste.

The wooden pieces are arranged like a nest, guiding visitors toward the heart of the installation and highlighting the connection to nature.
