SABELA REY VILA
Architect & Researcher
My personal projects have received international recognition, including being named a finalist in global design competitions such as the Kew Gardens Treehouse Competition in London and the Concéntrico International Architecture and Design Festival in La Rioja. I’ve also been selected for artist residencies like EN14 at the City of Culture in Galicia, Spain, and Tankwa Artscape in South Africa. My work has been exhibited at the Cape Institute for Architecture in Cape Town.
I was honoured to be named a regional winner of the Corobrik Awards in South Africa for my Master’s thesis, an achievement that led me to become one of the seven national finalists celebrated at the country’s premier architectural awards ceremony.
I hold a degree in Architectural Technology from the University of La Coruña, as well as Honours and a Master’s in Architecture from the University of the Witwatersrand, both awarded with distinction. Currently, I’m pursuing a PhD in architecture as part of a joint supervision between the University of Seville and the University of the Witwatersrand.
